People

The team

The project team is composed of specialists and researchers representing many engineering disciplines. Specialists are athered around specific objectives and coherent set of activities are assembled into work packages. The choice of each team member is made with respect to his/her technical background and expertise. The experience and role in the project of each individual in the SUBITO team is shown in the table below.

Mike McPartlin SELEX Galileo Ltd TBC
David Humphreys SELEX Galileo Ltd David is a Lead Systems Engineer working within SELEX. He has extensive experience of leading new technology development programmes and developing real-time video & image processing systems and algorithms for Electro-Optical Systems. His involvement within SUBITO is as Project Engineering Lead responsible for technical oversight of all project activities and deliverables.
Norman Watson SELEX Galileo Ltd Norman is a chief engineer working within SELEX Galileo. He has extensive experience in developing advanced navigation and electro-optical systems and novel algorithm development. His participation in SUBITO will be as a Technical Consultant in WP200: System & Concept Engineering along with involvement in WP400 & 500.
Peter Findlay SELEX Galileo Ltd Peter is a senior systems engineer working within SELEX Galileo. He has experience in systems engineering and modelling for concept, research & technology development projects. His involvement in SUBITO is as a Project Engineer on WP200: System & Concept Engineering.
Leonardo Roncarolo SELEX ELSAG SpA Leonardo works in the image processing group of SELEX ELSAG and has experience in product development and integration. His involvement in SUBITO is in WP600: Integration and Demonstration.
Stéphane Herbin ONERA Stéphane works in the Information Processing and Modelling department of ONERA. He has experience in stochastic modelling and analysis for object recognition and scene interpretation. His involvement in SUBITO is in WP520: Robust and Long Term Tracking with additional involvement in WP200 & 600.
Valerie Leung ONERA Valerie works in the Information Processing and Modelling department of ONERA. She has experience in computer vision and performance analysis. Her involvement in SUBITO is in WP520: Robust and Long Term Tracking with additional involvement in WP200 & 600.
Michael Dose L-1 Identity Solutions (L1) Michael Dose works for L-1 as a Senior Principal Research Engineer for more than 12 years. He is in charge for the acquisition and management of public funded projects. His participation in SUBITO is primarily in WP400 and WP500. Michael coordinates all research and development related activities of L-1 for SUBITO.
Patrick Sayd CEA List (CEA) Patrick works as a researcher in 3D vision and behaviour interpretation for CEA List. He has experience in computer vision and 3D reconstruction of shapes. His participation in SUBITO is in WP300: Supporting Studies with additional involvement in WP200, 500 & 600.
Maxime Taron CEA List (CEA) TBC
David Hogg University of Leeds (UoL) David is head of the computer vision group at UoL with a particular interest in learning and the representation of object shape and motion. His participation in SUBITO is primarily in WP400: Threat Analysis with involvement in WP200, 300, 500 & 600.
James Ferryman University of Reading (UoR) James has interests in model-based methods for people and traffic surveillance, human-computer interaction, robotics and autonomous systems. His involvement in SUBITO is in WP500: Image Analysis, with additional involvement in WP200, 300, 500 & 600.
Longzhen Li University of Reading TBC
Jouko Viitanen VTT Technical Research centre of Finland (VTT) Jouko works as a research professor in machine vision at VTT and has extensive experience in teaching, R&D, consulting and project management. His participation in SUBITO is in WP340: Distributed Tracking.
Norbert Brändle Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT) Norbert is vice head of the Dynamic Transportation Group at AIT. He has experience in image acquisition, computer vision and statistical analysis. His involvement in SUBITO is in WP410: Observe and Analyse Situations with involvement in WP200 & 600.
Stefan Seer Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT) Stefan hast experience in image acquisition, software development and pedestrian simulation. His involvement in SUBITO is in WP410: Observe and Analyse Situations with involvement in WP200 & 600.
Corrado Brigante Fiera di Genova (FdG) Corrado works in the technical service of FdG and has experience of research in civil protection and environmental monitoring. His participation in SUBITO is in WP200 bring the experience of the End Users to the project and WP600 for system demonstration.
Ian Brown University of Oxford Ian has a PhD in Computer Science from University College London. His main interest is research into the social, ethical and legal implications of ICT. He has published research papers and authored books on the regulation of surveillance systems and privacy. He has advised the EC data protection regulation, and was an expert evaluator for FP7 security proposals. His participation in SUBITO is in WP340 to provide the supporting study looking at the Legal and Ethical impacts on a SUBITO like system.
Joss Wright University of Oxford Joss holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of York, and has carried out postdoctoral work at Siegen and Oxford. His research focuses on privacy-enhancing technologies, computer security and anonymous communications. He is currently employed as FRESNEL research fellow at the Oxford Internet Institute, where his work is concerned with the design and application of privacy-enhancing technologies in federated wireless sensor networks. His participation in SUBITO is in WP220 to perform the Privacy Impact Assessment.
