Surveillance of Unattended Baggage and the Identification and Tracking of the Owner.

SUBITO is a capability project funded under European Union Grant No. FP7-SEC-2007-2.3-01 No 218004.

The SUBITO consortium has been formed from a diverse group of technology and implementation experts from across the EU. The team will develop an integrated threat detection system that provides a robust, timely alert to security personnel. Working closely with the end users, the team will design a system that is capable of distinguishing between genuine threats and false alarms in order to direct the focus of attention of the user to situations of the highest priority.

The SUBITO project will deliver a demonstration of semi-automated (man-in-the-loop) data processing built upon existing surveillance technology that will provide automated real-time detection of baggage that has been abandoned, the fast identification of the individual who left the baggage and the fast determination of the current location of that individual or his/her followed path.

The aims of the project will be achieved by building upon the research carried out to date in this field, in particular the EU Framework 6 project ISCAPS (SEC4-PR-013800).
